Osca Drunk on Community Spirit
Meet Osca the English Pointer, ECN’s newest recruit!
We could hardly refuse when prize-winning Osca offered his considerable talents to ECN.
We thought the finely tuned nose of this former Show Dog would help us sniff out amazing stories and missing ECN members having a sleep-in.
So far, Osca has succeeded only in tracking down his favourite pint. Tied to his tipple, we haven’t been able to prise him away from his local watering holes long enough to do any work.
What’s It All About, Osca?
It’s a cautionary tale. Won over by Osca’s pedigree, charm and good looks – he was Champion of Breed in his former Somerset home – we overlooked his weakness for the demon drink.
It was bound to end in tears. The long-suffering landlord at the Chequers finally said: Enough’s Enough!
Barred from his favourite local for being drunk and dis-doggerly, Osca was cast out in shame.
Barred and Brooding
The ban hit Osca hard. How far the mighty had fallen!
The normally pickled Pointer couldn’t even be bothered getting tight at the Tite.
The Road Less Woofed
The bus back from Bloxfest was a turning point in Osca’s life.
He gazed out of the window, contemplating his past, his future and the meaning of life.
We hoped that Osca might hop on the wagon and stay there.
Could he finally ditch the drink for good?
Sworn Off The Sauce
Result! Sober as a judge, Osca turned to a strict diet of meat chunks, orange juice and bull’s blood.
At the Blue Boar –one of the few pubs he wasn’t barred from – the doggie dozed in a non-alcoholic slumber.
But was it all too good to last?
Not Weary, Just Beery
ECN caught up with Osca at the Chadlington Beer Festival.
So much for sobriety. He was studying the Beer Guide before a boozy night at the Greyhounds. And yes, you’ve guessed it. He was only a dog-whisker away from his favourite poison.
That’s okay, Osca. We love you just the way you are.
Many thanks to Judith Barratt, Osca’s proud owner, who provided her wonderful photos. Hats off to image whizz Liam Bellenie who slipped in the ECN logo.
And Osca? Thanks for being such a spiffing sport. Enjoy your Chippy retirement!
